at the Department of Political Science at the University of Heidelberg

The Heidelberg Institute for International Conflict Research (HIIK) at the Department of Political Science at the University of Heidelberg is a private organization. The work is dedicated to

  • documentation
  • analysis

of national and international political conflicts. The HIIK was founded in 1991 to continue the work of the research project COSIMO (Conflict Simulation Model) headed by Prof. Dr. Frank R. Pfetsch (Universitiy of Heidelberg). The project was partly financed by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG).

The HIIK continually updates the COSIMO-database. The research results are periodically published in the annual Conflict Barometer.
