The Uganda Peace Foundation Initiative is a non-partisan and not-for-profit making citizen action organization to foster a culture of peace, positive and proactive change towards the creation of a more nonviolent and peaceful communities in Uganda.
The organisation’s focused interventions will be towards promoting community dialogues and reconciliation, conflict transformation/resolution, peace building, non-violent communication, and lobby and advocate with Parliamentarians, Civil Society organisations and communities for the Government to establish a ministry of Peace whose main function is to promote National peace and security; culture of peace, and non-violence among the population; promote sustainable development and peace, and to advance understanding, tolerance and solidarity among citizens.
The UPFI’s approach will subsequently look at sustain peace and development in practice, research, networking and advocacy as a match to the communities at the grass root as they rally towards sustainable development and peace. The Uganda Peace Foundation Initiative focal operational areas of activities is particularly Northern Uganda‘s districts of Pader, Kitgum and Gulu.
UPFI is also a member of the Global Alliance for Departments/Ministries of Peace with its secretariat at TRANSCEND, Romania. This is a new global movement committed to calls for establishment of departments/Ministry for peace in governments around the world.
